  • I've recently encountered an interesting audio problem, using OS X with a Windows partition (via Boot Camp). Specifically, if the Windows partition is used, and then the computer is restarted into OS X, the sound no longer works in OS X. Once OS X has been restarted, the audio once again works. The audio always seems to work on the Windows side.

Realtek hd audio driver support all of realtek hd audio codec. This is happened because, in windows 10 os, the realtek sound driver is downloaded and installed automatically from microsoft update and this driver package contains only the basic drivers for your sound card and does not contain the realtek hd audio manager application. I tried VooDooHDA with the Intel HD Audio setting and couldn't get any sound. Couldn't get any sound simply removing the AC97 kext or trying to use it, either.

Using Win 10 1803 Host VB 5.2.22 Win10 Guest Build 18298 just installed no audio output.

Guest configured Enable Audio: checked, Host Audio Driver: Windows Direct Sound, Audio Controller: Intel HD Audio, Extended Features: Enable Audio Output: checked, Enable Audio Input: Unchecked.
Sound icon in system tray has red X Hover text No Audio Device is Installed.
Device manager shows Audio device failed to install, event error codes 420, 400, 411.
